Sculptra

Introducing Sculptra® Aesthetic. Not an overnight miracle. Long lasting. Not a quick-fix. The first facial injectable that gives you subtle results over time. Replacing lost collagen. Giving you a more natural-looking appearance, without giving you away. A full treatment of Sculptra Aesthetic, an average of three injection sessions over a few months, can last up to two years. You will not see results right away as this process takes several visits and patience before results are seen. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a new type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, and folds, that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades.

As we age we lose facial volume leading to the loss of the natural youthful curves of the face.

What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra ® which is poly-L-lactic acid, has been widely used for twenty five years within the medical field and has a good safety profile. It stimulates the production of collagen gradually improving wrinkles and folds and restoring volume to improve facial contouring.

How is Sculptra® administered?

Sculptra® is an injectable procedure and some patients feel a brief burning sensation at the injection sites. A topical anaesthetic cream will be administered prior to treatment to alleviate some of the discomfort and an ice pack my be applied afterwards to calm the skin. Results are not immediate, skin thickness increases 4 - 6 weeks after treatment for up to 10 months. Further treatments at a later date may be required to obtain the desired results and results can last up to 2 years after the last treatment.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects include tenderness, bleeding, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of the injections, lasting an average 2 - 6 days. A possible delayed side effect is the appearance of papules or granulomas - small bumps under the skin, usually invisible. As with any injectable procedure there is a risk of infection.
